Biography
Khalid Birdsong is a cartoonist, caricature artist, and teaching artist living in California. He has experience creating live caricatures at hotels and events in Orlando, Florida, as well as providing corporate caricature illustrations online and remotely.
If you'd like to hire me to draw caricatures at your event or create a custom comic or illustration, email me here: birdsongster@gmail.com
Khalid's passion is visual storytelling, and he has spent over twenty years creating comics with characters of color to entertain and inspire audiences.
Khalid loves to travel. After spending two years living in Osaka, Japan, teaching Junior High School students English, I fully understand what it’s like to be a “fish out of water” as a Black male.
Khalid chronicled his adventures overseas in a humorous webcomic entitled “Fried Chicken and Sushi” that ran on his website
www.friedchickenandsushi.com
for four years.
For seven years, Andrews McMeel syndicated the kid version, “Little Fried Chicken and Sushi,” online through their GoComics website. Read regular updates running twice weekly on
www.gocomics.com
.
You can find his book collections of the original FC&S comics, “Livin’ In Japan Ain’t Easy!” and “Livin’ In Japan Still Ain’t Easy!” on amazon.com. If you want to become a patron of the arts, you can support Khalid on Patreon at patreon.com/birdsong.
