Biography
Ricky's love for caricature started in art school, drawing other students at gallery shows and discovering the work of Al Hirschfeld. In the summer's between school, he setup a caricature booth at his local flea market, selling his caricatures for $5 per face ( yikes! haha). Seeing that he was mildly successful, he went into full entrepreneurial mode and printed business cards, made a website, and started looking for gigs.
He soon moved to Los Angeles, being hired as a staff caricature artist with Goofy Faces at the L.A. Zoo. In 2012, Ricky attended his first and only(so far) ISCA CON, where he met amazing people and friends who shared his love for this art form. He didn't expect to win anything, but went home with 3 awards: Rookie of the Year, Best Black & White Technique, and one of the Top Caricaturists of the Year. He also traveled with the California Boys and drew retail caricatures at various state fairs in 2013. Since then he's drawn at countless weddings, birthdays, corporate parties and custom pet portraits.
Ricky has kept busy also working in the animation and picture book industries as a character designer on animated projects, books, and selling his personal work and merchandise at art conventions. Some of his clients include: Disney Consumer Products, Disney Tv Animation, and Nickelodeon.
He lives in Los Angeles with his wife and two pups, Petunia and Kazoo.
