Dave Boyer: Cartoonist, Caricaturist and Teaching Artist. Originally from the Bronx (180th St. and E. Tremont Ave.), Dave made his way to Rochester, New York to finish a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering Technology in 1978. Dave did engineering at Eastman Kodak for 11 years. In 1989,

David started a freelance art, cartooning and digital photography business that he still heads. In 1991, Dave joined the National Cartoonists Society (N.C.S.), and served on their Education Board. From N.C.S., David met and was mentored by some of the greatest newspaper and magazine gag cartoonists (such as the “Berndt Toast Gang” in Long Island). He did a weekly comic strip, “Bippies,” that ran for a year. David also has done editorial cartoons published by Gannett Rochester Newspapers. In 1994, Dave attended his first convention in Las Vegas of the then National Caricaturist Network (now ISCA.) All his caricature friends call him by his nickname, “Bippy”(tm).

In 1997, he won a prize for "Best Caricature Portfolio" at an N.C.N.
conference. Dave’s motto is: “Caricatures that FLATTER... Not
SHATTER.”(sm). Dave can do about 14 black and white live caricatures an hour at a party, Bar/Bat Mitzvah reception, company open house or trade show (preprinted paper with your logo is available). Dave draws color caricatures at art festivals. He entertains folks with his world-famous solar powered beanie hat (Bippy still loves science and technology!)
In May 1999, Bippy was invited to draw caricatures in Japan by author and award winning artist Tomoko Ogawara and Hoshinoko Productions. He has now worked and taught in Japan 9 times. Bippy speaks some Japanese and plays the Asian strategy game, “Go.” He is very friendly and considerate of all people.
